「民間監視器朝外」協助維護治安

高雄市警方調查五月間發生在旗津的一起汽車竊盜案，循線逮捕一名陳姓嫌犯，而且追查出嫌犯至少犯下九起竊案。這次破案的根據是竊案現場附近住家自行裝設的監視器，高雄市警方推動「民間監視器朝外、協助治安」方案，希望住家自行裝設的監視器，把鏡頭從對準自家門口，改成對準路口，這次偵破竊盜案可以歸功於此。

遭到逮捕的竊賊是一名四十歲的陳姓男子，落網後除了承認在旗津偷竊一輛汽車外，也供出另外在橋頭、小港、湖內等區，一共偷竊六輛汽車、一輛機車以及兩件普通竊盜案。警方說明，嫌犯偷車後，會將車用到損壞或沒有燃料就隨地拋棄，現場再偷另一輛車接續使用。由於竊賊犯案多起，警方將嫌犯移送後，經法院裁定將嫌犯羈押，避免再犯以減少民眾損失。
