根據美國勞工部周四公布的數據顯示，8月24日結束的一周，美國初次申請失業金人數減少6000人至33.1萬人，顯示裁員速度已小幅減緩。

四周平均初次申請失業金人數增加750人至331250人，仍接近2007年底--大衰退開始之時--以來低點。

8月17日結束的一周，持續領取失業金人數減少1.4萬人至299萬人。

四周平均持續領取失業金人數增加9500人至300萬人。

接受MarketWatch調查的分析師平均預估， 上周初次申請失業金人數為33萬人。

前一周初次申請失業金人數由33.6萬人修正為33.7萬人。
