路透社報導，世界第五大黃金生產商、澳洲最大金礦商紐克雷斯特礦業（Newcrest Mining Limited）8月12日公佈財報顯示，截至六月底的2013財年，該公司淨損57.8億澳元（53.2億美元），為2002年以來首度出現年度虧損，主要因為金價下跌導致62億澳元的資產減記的影響。該公司表示，如果2014財年的平均金價在1,450澳元，則該公司所有礦場均可望有正現金流量或是損益兩平。現貨金價最新報價為每盎司1,329美元（1,447澳元）。

Newcrest 2013財年除一次性項目的營運獲利年減58%至4.51億澳元，低於Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S調查分析師平均預估的4.9億澳元。此外，該公司上年度的資產減記也略高於6月份所宣佈的60億澳元，部分是受到澳元貶值的影響。該公司此前表示已經重新檢討了2014財年的預算與營運計劃，預計黃金產量將年增約4%至200-230萬盎司；營運成本預計將年減20%，因該公司將關閉部分高成本的礦場。

Newcrest 2013財年黃金產量年減8%至2,109,784盎司，銀產量年減3%至1,931,816盎司，銅產量則是年增6%至80,366噸。黃金銷量年減12%至2,054,923盎司，銀銷量年減3%至1,943,032盎司，銅銷量則是持平為78,887噸。金銀銅平均銷售價格則分別年減4%、14%、7%，分別為每盎司1,585美元、27.89美元，以及每磅3.44美元。
